How much cardio exercies should I do when am trying to build muscle? And how many day

During this time I lift weights one day and some cardio to the next. I can run up to 10 miles at the time, but I heard that a long time to break down muscle. But I have to do some kind of cardio to burn fat from personal. So, should do as much shooting (distance or time)?
