Kiwi Senior Citizen Bodybuilder Honoured With Festival
A 71 year old bodybuilder from the north of New Zealand has taken the local bodybuilding scene by storm; and to top it off, this particular bodybuilder is female.
Colleen Sloane was honoured with a festival in recognition of her bodybuilding achievements at the recent Manawatu bodybuilding championships in Palmerston North, on the Northern island of the country. Incredibly, she was taking part in her 100th National Amateur Bodybuilding Association (NABBA) contest, drawing a crowd of over 250 local bodybuilding fans.
A member of the Special Olympic Powerlifting team, Sloane competes in the senior physique 45 plus class, meaning she is in constant competition with bodybuilders more than 20 years her junior. The event attracted over 40 competitors, both male and female, all firmly dedicated enough to bodybuilding to put their muscles to the test against the rest.
The secret to Sloane’s success has not been made known, but experts stress that a healthy lifestyle combined with eating properly and using the correct dietary supplements, such as whey protein, is key.
