Jack Up Your Gains
Jack Up Your Gains
And your libido
by Butch Lebowitz
In his excellent e-book Natural Anabolics, Jerry Brainum discusses the studies that show an herb grown in the Malaysian rain forest, Eurycoma longifolia, or longjack, has the potential to increase testosterone:
“In vitro, or test-tube, studies found that longjack stimulates the conversion of pregnenolone into testosterone. Early human studies found that it could not only raise testosterone but also lower the levels of sex-hormone-binding globulin, which ties up testosterone in the blood. Lowering SHBG would have the effect of boosting free, or active, testosterone.”
Now a recent study has tested the herb on sexually depressed rats. The researchers found that longjack does indeed increase sexual performance, and that may be due to the doubling of serum testosterone in the treated rats.
According to Brainum’s e-book, dosages of 200 to 600 milligrams have proven effective and safe:
“The rise of both testosterone and IGF-1, pointing to an increased growth hormone release, indicates that longjack may offer anabolic effects with no apparent toxicity.”
Is longjack the new natural Viagra? More research is needed, but in the meantime, I’m getting jacked up!
