Road blocks - SEC10 - 05-24-2010

I have been working out really hard lately. In the past i would be very sore for the next few days. But i started to not get sore anymore, and this bugs me. So i switched my routine up, doing different excersises, to maybe shockem. But no luck there, so this makes me start thinking im not doing a good enough job. So my question is how many days rest should i take between workouts if im not sore? I dont want to hit them up to soon and end up hurting myself.

The general rule is 72 hours for large muscle groups and 48 hours for small muscle groups,
Can you post up your current routine, personally i train each body part once per week, so that particular body part gets 7 days to recover.
how long do you normally take to recover?
How long have you been doing your current routine?

Just because you arnt getting sore anymore doesnt mean the training isnt working bro , dont use how sore you feel as a sign of a good work out , as long as weights or reps are improving constantly every session then you will progress !

Yea good point, i started thinking i wasn't getting enough nutrients n protein.

Every workout day i do abbs and then cardio for 20 min but here is my routine,

Monday: upper body
Tuesday: lower body
Wednesday: off
Thursday: upper body
Friday: lower body
Weekends: off

It gives me 2-3 days rest. i have been doing something like this for about 5 yrs. something i picked up when i played football.

Do you grow well from that routine?
After 5 years of the same kind of routine i would say that it is time to try another type of program, there a alot of different programs on this forum have a look through them and see what you think, my suggestion would be one of the following:

https://www.hypermuscles.com/f69/mike-mentzer-heavy-duty-i-805/

https://www.hypermuscles.com/f70/vince-girondas-8-x-8-workout-gvt-556/

https://www.hypermuscles.com/f70/german-volume-training-186/

They are all brutal, and you WILL be sore after every workout!
