Recommended supps?
Hello!! Ive currently been using extreme's whey but at my local gym they sell SCI-MX which also gets good reviews :) I thought it would be interesting to find out what supplements everyone recommends?
~Thanks |
Sci-Mentor Premium Whey,
Reflex Instant Whey, Cytosport Complete Whey, |
for most it depends of your goals bro, here is a list below is what I take wether Im bulking or cutting, I usually drop the weight gainer when cutting or change up the protein to something slow absorbing
isolate protein weight gainer (or some kind of slow absorbing protein) Creatine NanoX9 L-glutimine CLA EFA BCAA Amino acids milk thristle ALA (when I have extra funds) cytocarb (when using slin) energy shots (usually Rocket Shots) Rex |
Good list Rex, everything which is essential.
|
I use
protein BCAA Vitamins L-Glutamine and when I have more money I add other supplements such as Tribulus, ZMA or something else. |

What you reckon? |
I found that Optimum Gold is solid for a good price - and its almost 80% whey iso,
- also optimum casein before bed started using jack3d a few months ago for pre workout- i think its better than BSN's NO xplode- |
wow, thanks guys got a good list now i really appreciate that rex!
|
I use Optimum gold standard 3 x a day plus Phosagen after workout

Considering what you have said, I would recommend you these vital supplements:
- Whey protein - Casein protein - Creatine - Maltodextrin Combine these except for Casein protein (slow protein) in one big shake, and drink it directly after working out. This will allow for instant muscle recovery in combination with increased effectivity of the creatine uptake (use water). The fast carbs will do it's job to provide your body with energy, while the protein feeds your muscles! Just before going to bed, have a shake of Casein protein (fast protein), to provide your body with food throughout the majority of the time you are asleep. Good luck :) |
I'd say your better of using glucose rather than maltodextrin, glucose is absorbed a lot quicker and after training you need it asap.
I did this for quite a while and found it works great. You can also slow your pre bedtime shake down by mixing with milk if you don't want the expense of buying different proteins. |
Oki Mark, thank you.
Im a diabetic and it would mean doing another injection though. Would glucose tablets be ok with a protein shake after a workout? |
I suppose it depends on the amount. I usually throw 50g glucose in. When I use insulin I use 100g. Not sure about using glucose tabs I suppose there the same. Only reason I use glucose instead of maltodextrin is the release time.

If you really want to make the absorbation of fast carbs quick, then you combine maltodextrin and dextrine (glucose), in a 50/50 split. TC: You don't have to worry about this unless you really seek the ultimate fast carb drink after workout, maltodextrin and dextrine will both do fine on it's own. |
