Kai Greene Early Life On July 12, 1975, Leslie Kai Greene, also known as The Predator, was born. He grew up in the Brooklyn borough of New York City till the age of 6. From the age of 6, he was brought up in foster homes and residential treatment clinics in Brooklyn. This development affected his childhood and caused him traumas. He struggled to feel among his peers or feel confident about himself. He felt out of place both in the community and at school. This led to some defiant behaviors in him as he started to act out and cause trouble in school. He caused so much trouble that he was on the verge of being expelled from his school and his foster home. However, from the early age of 13, Kai Greene already developed a passion for weightlifting; he had a good physique for his age. He began working out at the gym, using the gym as an escape room from his traumas and issues. Young Kai Greene Kai Greene's introduction to Bodybuilding Growing up, Kai wasn't like every other kid because he had something in him. His potential was so visible in the way that his body grew faster than that of most of his mates. Due to his exceptional genetics, his body developed rapidly and was bigger than his peers. This development caught his seventh-grade English teacher's attention. His teacher advised him to compete in teen bodybuilding events as a way of expressing himself and his talents. This was all the trigger that Kai needed to start his bodybuilding career. Kai Greene's Early Bodybuilding Career As a teenager, Kai engaged in several nonprofessional bodybuilding events. He carried on with this for approximately 5 years. In these events, Kai placed first in every single one because of his physique and his constant training over the years. Kai continued to advance and make progress even as he approached the end of his adolescence. At the age of 19, he got his Pro Card in the 1994 NGA American Nationals. This achievement was another boost in his belief that bodybuilding was the part for him and he had a fulfilling future in the sport. He has always wanted to be a legend in bodybuilding like other legendary bodybuilders in the industry. This prompted him to participate in the NPC federation after his massive win at the 1996 WNBF Pro Natural Worlds. Kai Greene was however aware that the NPC wasn't for small-time bodybuilders like him. Only top athletes participated in this event, so he knew he had to step up his game, and he did just that. He decided to work on his physique, he trained constantly. He decided to train and work out till he was on the same page to compete with other professional bodybuilders competing in the NPC. Kai Greene's Professional Career Alongside his trainer, Jakob Panotas, he trained consistently at Johnny Lats Gym in Brooklyn in 1996. He accomplished the Physique he desired and he wore the look of a professional bodybuilder. All the training for him to win the NPC was done with the bigger picture in view. He needed to win the NPC to qualify to participate in the IFBB. In 1999, he won the NPC Team Universe event but after that, he took a long break from bodybuilding. He went off the radar to better himself before coming back in 2004 to win the NPC Universe Championship. This win increased his chances of competing in the IFBB when he professionally began his bodybuilding career. Kai Greene's break from bodybuilding Kai had his first professional event in Slovakia at the World Championships in 1999. At that event, he placed fourth. However, he wasn't pleased with the results probably because he was used to placing first in the competitions as a teen. Kai went on a break from bodybuilding for four years; he did this to prepare thoroughly for his participation in the IFBB event. During his break, he focused on working on his physique, cutting back on many activities and he did it. Now, he is famously known for being a bodybuilder with one of the best physiques in the world. Kai Greene's Comeback Kai finally returned to Bodybuilding after taking four years to break. After his break, he was spotted at the 2005 New York Pro. Unfortunately, his return wasn't met with the best result. He placed a disappointing 14th place in the competition. Nevertheless, the predator never gave up on achieving his goal of becoming a bodybuilding legend. For the next two years, Kai only participated in four shows, and in those four shows, he managed to rank in the top three just once. That didn't deter him, as he continued to train, work out and improve his physique. His incessant efforts proved effective when in 2007, Kai won the Shawn Ray Colorado Pro/Am Classic. This was just the beginning of his massive wins in the game. The Arnold Classic Kai Greene continued to participate in more bodybuilding events. Precisely, he competed in nine shows, and in those shows, he won six awards. In these nine shows, his best win was the Arnold Classic in 2009. He won the Arnold Classic and was presented the prize by Arnold Schwarzenegger, the founder of the event. Also, this win was his stepping stone to qualifying for Mr. Olympia for the first time. He used this win as a prerequisite to winning the Mr. Olympia competition, the biggest bodybuilding event in the industry. Mr. Olympia and New York Pro In preparation for the New York Pro Championship in 2011, Kai trained with his coach George Farah. Fortunately, he placed first in the New York Pro Championship that year. That same year, he competed in the 2011 Mr. Olympia and placed third. This qualified him to compete in the 2012 Mr. Olympia. Because of this, he didn't participate in the 2012 New York Pro to focus on the Mr. Olympia event. He placed second in 2012, 2013, and 2014 Mr. Olympia consecutively. However, he didn't participate in the 2015 Mr. Olympia due to reasons best known to him. Upon his request, he was given an extension of 2 months to register, but he still couldn't meet up with the extended deadline. In 2016, he competed and won the Arnold Classic again. He was given the chance to compete in the 2016 Mr. Olympia but he declined the offer. Kai Greene's Net Worth As a professional bodybuilder, Kai Greene has accumulated some wealth in his journey.
