Default The benefits of whey protein powder

Whey protein powder is not just for building muscle and strength. It is a health drink, pure and simple. For maximum benefits the whey needs to be undenatured.

Whey protein powder is one of the most studied supplements going and some of the proven benefits are as follows:

• Has anti cancer properties. Can be particularly beneficial in the fight against colon and prostrate cancer.
• Lowers cholesterol
• Improves the immune system
• Helps cope with stress
• Protects against osteoporosis
• Lowers blood pressure, thereby reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease

Whey protein powder also raises the level of Glutathione, an anti oxidant, which in itself has numerous benefits. Glutathione deficiency may influence the development of many diseases (including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, liver disease, cystic fibrosis, sickle cell anemia, cancer, heart attack, stroke and diabetes.

Glutathione is said to protect against a wide range of health problems, including:

• Alcoholism
• Alzheimer's disease
• Asthma
• Atherosclerosis
• Autism
• Cataracts
• Chronic fatigue syndrome
• Colitis
• Diabetes
• Glaucoma
• Heart disease
• Hepatitis
• High cholesterol
• lLver disease
• Osteoarthritis
• Parkinson's disease

In addition, glutathione is purported to reverse the aging process, prevent cancer, and preserve memory.

The downside is that whey protein can make you fart!

Seriously mate. Look it up. The stuff is magic. Got to be undenatured or not treated at high temperature (pasturised) to keep most of the health benefits.

Apparently, truly undenatured whey is unflavoured and not easily mixed, which puts most people off buying undenatured.

I've been using unflavoured whey concentrate for about 30 years now, long before I knew what undenatured was. Pure luck on my part I suppose. Although to be honest, it was cheaper than isolate and all the other supposedly premium powders.

I use whey powders all the time, yet I had no idea that it came with such a wide variety of benefits. Never tried unflavored, does it really have no flavor at all.

Bit like cardboard flavour. It's not as bad as it sounds really. I've had some pretty horrible flavoured whey drinks as well.

I have yet to find a drink other than Sytha Six that is flavored well.
