Need advise, swelling, soreness and redness after thigh pinning
Hi guys,
Well ... This is a first and I'm worried a lot. I pinned myself 6 days ago into the thigh muscle, which is nothing new to me. A day later the injection are had a lump like knot and it was very sore. Then the second day the surrounding area of the injection site became a bright reddish color, my skin was red in the injection area. As the days passed mynthigh muscle swelled up to the point I couldn't bend my leg. Plus a lot of pain in the thigh area. What the hell happened ? Is there a problem? Any advise is appreciated. Leg is still swollen in the thigh region . Last, when I pin myself I didn't shake my hand so pin was stable during the injection . thank you. |

The obvious answer has to be see your doctor in case is an infection. But to my knowledge an infection would feel hot and is unlikely to get better by itself. A mate of mine has a similar issue to this and it resolved itself after a week or so. Obviously wasn't an infection. Your call mate. From what you're saying it doesn't sound horrendous though. Ps anyone else got predictive txt that seems to change what you've written AFTER you submit it? Last edited by stillgoingstron; 03-16-2016 at 10:43 AM. |

This may come off as a dumb question ...
But how do I know if an infection is taking place. What's strange to me is the fact that even though I pinned the front center area of my thigh, the majority of the reddness was at the area of my inner thigh and my hamstring area is swollen which is total opposite area of where the injection took place.
So I'm asking myself, what the hell is going on here. Thank you! PS .. If I had an infection wouldn't I have a fever? |

Yes probably. It's highly unlikely it is infected without you getting feverish or feeling generally Ill. The pin site would feel warm as well and there wouldn't be any sign of it getting better. If it's just painful without any of these symptoms it probably isn't infected. But I'd keep a close eye on it. If it does get or is infected you'll need antibiotics. |
