Default Is this a good diet for me?

Am I going to do something with this diet?
What should I change if this is not good for me?

So I am 22, 152lbs, 5’6 height, and about 12% bf.

I am going for 130 lbs, but I am not in any particular hurry.

My daily diet looks something like this (and I don't mind the repetition):

2 peppers/cauliflowers.

2-3 onions (red or brown, it doesn't matter).

200-250 gr of mixed vegetables (stir fried)

400 gr chicken breasts/500 gr fish fillets (usually grilled).

I occasionally throw in 1-2 eggs

1/2 cup of brown rice

I usually have a day or two when I skip this routine, where a little alcohol may creep in, and sometimes fast food.
When I feel the need for sugar I have one cup of yogurt with a little honey added.

Currently following some workout plans that I've found on http://healthyfitnatural.com/, and I think I'm doing alright, so far..
Would classify myself as a beginner, I don't have much experience but I am learning..

So.. I would appreciate any advice, what should I and what should I not change, thanks!

Hi Monica. It certainly looks ok to me. That's without trying to work out the macros/calories etc

Healthy carbs, good protein and no unhealthy fats. It's just the ratio you might need to play around with. And I would throw in those two eggs everyday. Including the yolk.

Apart from losing a bit of fat, what are you trying to achieve with your training? Is it just general health and fitness or muscle building or what? Because that will make a difference.

As you progress with your 'diet' you may need to add in or take away some calories depending on what happens. But as a general well being diet it looks spot on.

And have and enjoy a day off every now and then. Nobody, and I don't care who says they do, can stick to any form of strict diet forever. You need the occasional bad day.

ps if anything it's likely there's not enough calories so post up your planned exercise regime and we can maybe tweak it a bit

Hey stillgoingstron, thank you for answering!

For now, I'm just trying to lose weight and achieve my goal, but I'm also planing to do some weight lifting in the future.

I am very happy with my current diet, but of course "the occasional bad day" is inevitable

My current workout plan looks something like this:

Running 45-60 minutes, 2-3 times a week
Swimming 2 times a week
Easy 20 minute cardio (almost every day):
- jumping jacks
- front kicks
- squat jumps
- mountain climbers

What you really must try to avoid is dieting too quick and losing lean tissue. Just watching the scales drop without any regard for why is a disaster.

Please don't be tempted to cut calories and exercise excessively at the same time. All you will do is get smaller. And that's no good.

I would seriously consider doing some squats and some deadlifts once or twice a week. Start light, get your form spot on and slowly but surely add weight. Don't rush. As the weight grows so will your strength and effort and that's when you will start to lose fat and not muscle.

For long term benefit you must do everything slowly. You must make sure it's fat you lose and not muscle. Cutting back on the cardio and especially the 45 minutes plus running and adding in those two compound exercises will guarantee you do exactly that. With luck you will absolutely love the new shape this weight training will give you and be hooked for life.

And you wont look like a muscle bound freak. Not unless you specifically eat and train to be one. You will look toned and slim. Guaranteed.

I should have added that I doubt if you are eating enough if you do that amount of exercise.

Ok, that doesn't sound so bad, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to make such a huge change in my workout plan just yet I think I'm going to increase my calorie intake, for now..

But over time I will start with weightlifting for sure, maybe even in a couple weeks.

Thank you very much for the advice!

everyone is different when it comes to dieting, you will have to try it out and see what works best for you, cardio and diet is important when it comes to weight loss, watch your carb intake and pre pack all your meals in tupperware and take it with you, this way it will be much easier to stay on track
