Well mine was not only stupid, I fell for it and it set me back. I was 120 pounds when I started lifting. I had hyperthyroidism, so I couldn't gain muscle. I thought I was a hard gainer, but I was in a constant catabolic state.
The guy told me to gain weight I should eat all the worst foods I can, as long as most had dairy for protein. I eat gallons of chocolate chip mint icecream, etc. needless to say, two months later I'm 30 pounds heavily and not much stronger. To make it worse, I had just gotten my thyroid under control so that catabolic state was reversed into if I'm not careful I'll gain fat fast stage.
It wasn't hard to get those 30 off, and I've put on a lot of muscle since. But that was the worst advice I was ever given.
I half suspect he was being a complete a-hole.
